This project harnesses grief as a catalyst for art-making. Through labour and reflection, the series examines autobiographical objects collected over a lifetime and questions what becomes of them after their owner’s death. To catalogue the objects I inherited following my mother’s passing in 2022, I use her sewing machine as a collaborator. Through its mark-making, we document the presence of her absence.
