Domestic Postpartum is a project birthed during the delirium of a postpartum period. This work is an exploration emphasising the visual themes of motherhood, isolation, compulsion and absolute fatigue. Made from an act of destroying previously made two-dimensional work, torn and ripped fragments were then reconstructed and repurposed as over 2000 small house-like domestic objects. In the beginning these small sculptures were a response to the struggle of entering motherhood, isolation and obsessive compulsions. This project has evolved with a multidisciplinary approach using printmaking, drawing and painting while also examining themes of housing, mental health and parenting during a pandemic.
